New Testing Proctor
We want to welcome our new part-time testing proctor, Jessica Alexander. Here is what Jessica had to say:
Hello, my name is Jessica Alexander and I am excited to have been recently hired as a Proctor for the Online Testing Center. I have enjoyed working as a temporary on-call Proctor during finals for the past 3 years. Employment with SLCC runs in my family! My Mother, Julie Alexander worked for SLCC for 26 years at the Online Testing Center, as well as various other positons before retiring in December 2013. My Brother, Tyler Alexander has also worked for SLCC in the Online Testing Center and in the Photo Lab, and my Sister, Jennifer Alexander (McNair) worked at the Lifetime Activity Center way back when it first opened. I grew up and still live in Taylorsville a few miles from the Redwood Campus and completed general education classes here so, I am very familiar with the Redwood campus and being here feels like home. Previously I have worked for the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), a pharmaceutical R&D company- ZARS Pharma, and Cactus & Tropicals in horticultural maintenance. I have been with my ‘significant other’ for 8 years and we don’t have kids, but a cat and a snake instead! In my youth I received training in ballet for 10 years with the Russian Vaganova Method before tendonitis halted my pursuit of a professional career. My passion for ballet has never died and I now enjoy volunteering for Ballet West. My other interests and hobbies include hoola hoop dancing, hiking, camping, biking, yoga, meditation, container gardening, arts and crafts and origami art. I am so happy to now be a part of the SLCC family and to be working in an exciting and growing department. I am looking forward to working with students and getting to know everyone here! (We’re delighted—and fortunate—to have you on the staff, Jessica!—Deb)
