eKudos Nominees!

eKudos Awards September/October Nominees Heidi Christensen: Heidi deserves this award because she always goes above and beyond for all of us here in the department. Not only does she organize fun events for us, but she also orders things we need and takes care of the details. She has been working extra hard all these months that she hasn’t had an assistant and let’s face it – she is the LIFE of every party! We love Heidi!!! “People” Heidi Christensen: Heidi not only helps greatly in running the “well oil machine” called our Division, but she does it with such enthusiasm. I see co-workers, faculty, general public that walk into the office and when Heidi greets them, you can tell they feel welcome. From potlucks, her games, and her humor, Heidi tries to motivate and make work fun at the same time, which can be difficult when you have your own duties to complete. “Service” Ryan Hobbs: I know that the instructions for the e-award stated to nominate one of my peers, and Ryan isn’t really my peer, but I think he is just as deserving. In all the years that I have known and worked with Ryan, I have seen nothing but excellence in his actions. Ryan is extremely professional, yet friendly at the same time. He has been and is probably the kindest boss I have EVER had (even with his “mean funnies”). Ryan has such knowledge, visions, passions, and openmindedness about how to improve and involve this division. “Results” Kathy Ruby: Kathy has worked tirelessly to identify and create video capabilities for the department – even through frustrating equipment and space issues, she keeps looking for innovative solutions that contribute to the excellence of the whole team. Yea, Kathy! “Innovation” Heidi Christensen: With a can-do attitude and just enough teeth to get things done around SLCC, I have found Heidi to be invaluable during my short tenure out at South City. Regardless of the results of this month’s award selection, she deserves many a kudo from me. “Results” Mondie Manhdavi: We were working on one of Kurt’s many projects and I asked Mandana if she would let me know when she was ready for lunch. We continued working on the project until it was finished and then Mandana said, “Ok, lunch time.” At first it was funny, but I also noticed that it was 30 minutes after her work-day ended. “Excellence” Jonathan Clarke: Jonathan is that employee that all supervisors like to have on their team. All I have to do is tell him what the project is and he makes it happen. Most of the time, he would solve the problem before it became a problem and then let me know it was done. “Integrity” Rose Defa: Rose has been assisting me with an FTLC course and she has provided excellent comments, suggestions, and feedback. She has been very professional, friendly yet stern while working with clients. Through her research, suggestions and presentation, I have noticed that she is committed to a high standard of work. She is concerned about student learning and the reputation of the eLearning department. “Excellence” LeAnne Madsen: The Support Center was given the task of auditing the online classes. I asked LeAnne to help out and she willingly accepted the opportunity to help without flinching. I am always impressed with her willingness to volunteer and help out when there is a need. “Collaboration” Niki Tew: The Support Center was given the task of auditing the online classes. I asked Niki to help out and she willingly accepted the opportunity. She was very willing to ask for more when she finished the group that was given to her and she willingly helped others who had questions about the course. “Collaboration” Maxine Venzor: Our group was auditing the online classes in Canvas and Maxine was willing to jump in and help finish the project. She was a great help and helped get the project completed in a timely manner. “Collaboration” RaNae Booth: One faculty called x5125 for Jeff, but I picked up the call. As they talked, I was having a hard time understanding their needs. I almost lost it, because this faculty couldn’t describe her question well. I was on the phone with her for 10 minutes and still couldn’t understand her needs. Of course, that was a panic/last minute call which made it even harder to get a picture of what she really needed. I asked RaNae to help me and I could tell she was having a hard time understanding her as well. However, she was very patient and very detailed in her approach, and she even used humor. She was able to calm her down, and understand what she needed. She spent about 20 minutes helping her on the phone. “Service” Mark Lye: I needed a video closed captioned and uploaded to a course in a hurry – the instructor wanted it yesterday. Mark not only did the captioning in record time, but when I couldn’t get it to load in Kaltura or link to it in the class, he cheerfully took care of everything for me. I was able to report to the instructor that the video was ready for his students in a timely manner. Thanks Mark! “Service” Angie Napper: I’d like to nominate Angie Napper for this award. I have been so impressed at how quickly she has picked up the ins and outs of SLCC. She has helped all of the projects I am on run more effectively. She demonstrates integrity to me because she does what she says she’ll do and she does it right! Thanks for joining us, Angie, and for your excellent work! “Integrity” Our winners are RaNae Booth and Mondie Mahdavi!
