New eLearning Support Coordinator

We have a new eLearning Support Services Coordinator starting on April 16. Below is a picture, and a little blurb from Greg Miles. Welcome Greg!
Hi there, my name is Greg Miles and I am excited to work as a coordinator for the support center at Salt Lake Community College. I begin working on April 16 and I am looking forward to a new opportunity. The people that I have met have been great and I am looking forward to working in such an exciting department. I love hearing about people’s back-story so I’ll tell you mine and hopefully I’ll get to hear yours. I’ve been married for almost 11 years and we’ve managed to add five kids to our family during those 11 years. We have been living in West Jordan for the past 9 years. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. I worked for a small family owned company called Muir Copper Canyon Farms for the past 6 years. They are a food service company similar to Sysco or Nicholas. I was their IT Specialist/ snow shoveler, Report Generator/ lunch picker upper/ anything else I could do person. I was also their technical support and was able to manage several projects. I enjoyed my time with Muir. In 2008 I began a part time position with the LDS Church as a Customer Service Analyst. I worked to support local units located in North America and Puerto Rico. I provided support for each unit’s software. This software is located in each unit’s clerk’s office and is responsible for organizing finance and membership information. I also answered questions about Church policies and helped with the training of local clerks. I remained on that team until March of 2013 when I moved to the HR Processing team. This team handles all of the HR transactional work for the HR Department of the LDS Church as well as customer service and technical support for HR Reps and non- employees. In January of 2012 I began a Masters of Human Resources degree with Utah State University and finished that intensive program in December of 2013. So if you are keeping track I was working 2 jobs and completing a master’s degree at the same time. I am still sane and have some hair left but I can tell you that my wife and children are glad to see me without a textbook in hand. I have several hobbies and interests. The first is my beautiful wife, Kristen who always has another project for us to work on together. She came from the Southwest and I feel lucky to have convinced her to marry me. My second hobby is my 9 year old daughter named Anna. She’s an artist, a dancer and a singer. She also makes it her mission to tell her younger siblings what to do, occasionally they even listen. Hobby’s number 3 and 4 were born on the same day. Grant and Jennie are 7 years old. Grant is one minute older than Jennie and likes to occasionally remind her of that fact. Grant loves Legos, building and then destroying things and playing in the dirt. Jennie enjoys the color pink, ballet, the color pink, playing with her baby sister and the color pink. Nathan is hobby number 5 and is 4 years old. He’s into teasing siblings, playing with dirt, climbing on things that he shouldn’t and testing his independence. My last hobby is 8 month old Maggie. She loves waking up in the middle of the night, being held by someone, eating things that she finds on the floor and smiling her toothless smile. She hates baths and sleeping through the night. The Miles family loves spending time together, going on field trips and watching This Old House. In my free time I like being outside and doing things like fishing, hunting and hiking. I also enjoy watching sports like soccer, baseball and football. I like messing with gadgets like tablets, phones and computers. I am very excited to begin working with an exciting and interesting department. I look forward to getting to know each of you.
