New Instructional Designer: Marie Horne
Hello everyone! It’s me, Marie Horne. I grew up in the Seattle area, then came to BYU for college, and I haven’t managed to leave these deserts yet. I still do miss the rainy weather and overcast skies though. After graduating BYU in child development and humanities (literature emphasis), I went back for more punishment to get an MA in English. While teaching freshman writing there, I discovered the world of instructional design. I got a few freelance gigs creating assessments for WGU and worked for a corporate training company as an instructional designer. Since higher education is one of my hobbies, I went back to school for a master’s in Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences from USU. When I finished that degree, I wanted to go back to working in higher ed and wanted to apply here. Thanks for taking me in, and thank you, everyone, for the wonderful welcome I’ve received. I love baking, learning, cleaning, and organizing. I know that sounds terribly boring, but there it is. I love music (though I don’t play anything worth mentioning). Some current top artists on my Spotify playlists are Norah Jones, U2, Tori Amos, Elbow, Eric Whitacre, Vivaldi, and Mumford and Sons, and George Winston. *** Welcome Marie!! We love having you here!!
